Why did I write the book, Do Your Own Home Staging?
There is this misconception that Home Staging is easy and lots of fun and even after all the hard work is done it can be fun but it is not easy, by far. The last thing I want is for homeowners to apply what they've seen on television and say that Home Staging doesn't work because they don't know the techniques required.
The book gives details and secrets and pretty much everything you need to know to prepare your property for today's market expectations. What it does not give you is creative talent. There are many situations and properties that call for creativity and for that will you definitely need to call in a professional.
Education and experience include:
- Computer education and experience dating back to... well here's my wake up call... to 1987 when they were first marketed to the general public. Since then, I have invested to continue with what feels like a treadmill of upgrading education and equipment.
- Attending the Mount Saint Vincent University for marketing and public relations. I was fortunate to work in a capacity to utilize my creative ideas and solutions to implement marketing strategies for some of Halifax's premier companies.
- Attending the Nova Scotia Community College for website and graphic design to enable me the ability to become an online marketing guru.
- Attending numerous seminars and conventions to acquire managerial skills.
- Acquiring my Certified Staging Professional designation to develop a successful home staging company, UpStage Home ReDesign.
- Writing a book published by Self-Counsel Publishing International that is sold on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Chapters and many bookstores.
- Intensive training and continuing education courses for my real estate license.
It is my goal to continue my quest for information, education and experiences to help clients make their transition as informed and stress free as possible.

Personal Background
I've lived in the Halifax Regional Municipality my entire life aside from a three year company transfer to Ontario, but of course, had to move back home to the place I love the best. I married my soulmate in 2002, was happily pregnant within a month and now have two wonderful boys who are five and six years old. And yes, I still yearn for the day that I can finally go on my honeymoon.
I have happily settled in Kingswood after having spent numerous years exploring almost every community HRM has to offer, which is how I developed a stressfree method to help clients with their transition.
- Wallace Heights and Shannon Park, when there was a thriving community of military families.
- Lower Sackville, long before the Drive-In Movie was torn down for the Atlantic SuperStore.
- Woodlawn, Central Dartmouth, Cole Harbour, Bedford and Halifax.
Personal Interests
I love Spring and Summer because I have a wonderful piece of property that allows me to garden to my hearts content. In the winter, you'll find me huddled under numerous layers shivering on a bench in a cold rink as my boys are in hockey.
Community Involvement
- Vice President, Kingswood Parent School Association.
- Director, Kingswood Ratepayers Association.
- Supporter of the World Wildlife Fund, WWF and Make Poverty History
